1. Thierry Mugler Angel

In 1992 perfume history was made. Perfumers Olivier Cresp and Yves de Chiris collaborated on a fragrance and fashion designer Thierry Mugler released which would become one of the best-selling perfumes in the world. Bottled in star shaped flacon, legend has it that Thierry Mugler went to a fortune teller prior to becoming famous as a fashion designer. She looked at his palm and noticed the lines made a star shape. She advised him that if he were to incorporate this shape in all his designs, he would be world famous. He did as she advised him, paying attention to every detail including designing the bottle himself. Adored and worn by women of all ages, Thierry Mugler Angel did something no other perfume at that time had done: it united the fruity floral and the oriental gourmand into something utterly unique. Angel captures and combines pieces of sweet innocence and blends it with heady floral notes and glazes it with a delicious sweetness that makes a statement. This has gone on to become Thierry Mugler’s most popular scent.  Wear this and you are no Angel… the perfect perfume for evening and cooler weather.

2. Thierry Mugler Angel Innocent

Thierry Mugler Angel Innocent is the original’s first little sister and is a fresher version that still has the gourmand vibe, but dialed back. Jammy red berries are dewy and light over a delicious whipped cream and praline heart. The drydown is soft musk that adds a little naughtiness while still keeping it is mild, clean discreet and easy to wear.  Recommended for office and day wear.

3. Thierry Mugler Angel Muse

Thierry Mugler Angle Muse is newest generation of Thierry Mugler Angel and perfect for millennials who want a sweet and fresh perfume. Angel Muse blends the hazelnut cream candy floss of the original with vetiver…not patchouli. Angel Muse was said to be the first “vetiver gourmand” for women and composed by rising star perfumer Quentin Bisch. This is a unisex perfume and works well for daytime and casualwear.

4. Thierry Mugler Angel Eau Sucree

Angel Eau Sucrée was composed by Perfumer Dorothée Piot who focused on the edible aspects of the original, while lowering the concentration to Eau De Toilette. Angel’s unmistakable DNA is there, but the dominant notes  into a scent  that shimmers with a cool frostiness associated with refreshing summer desserts. The fruity opening of red berry sorbet captures the nose with an energizing wave of tartness. Frozen berries melt into a whipped chiffon-like heart of burnt meringue infused with floral aromas. Angel Eau Sucrée is more playful and lighthearted than its older cousin. The caramel and candy floss are there, but more subtle creating an excellent “alter-ego.”

5. Thierry Mugler Angel Acqua Chic

Angel Aqua Chic is a softer variation on the Angel theme and one of the most popular bones or it wouldn’t be Angel, but the addition of cornflower water, pink peppercorn, and Calabrian lemon essence creates a shimmering veil that wraps around your body and creates an aura of innocence and light. The drydown is sensational, soft and gentle, with a bit of vanillic sweetness. Lovely for day wear, casual and for work.

6. Thierry Mugler Alien

The second pillar for Thierry Mugler Perfumes, Alien was a departure from Angel and is a mesmerizing and mysterious floral. With only three notes listed, Alien radiates freshness in a very unique and enticing way. As the spectacular opening subsides, the incandescent Indian jasmine rule emerges and rules the heart with honey-kissed blossoms lending an glow of warmth and a hint of the exotic to the amber and woody drydown. Best for evening wear or any time you want to stand out in a crowd.

7. Thierry Mugler Womanity

Womanity is the the third pillar in the portfolio was composed in 2010 and was unlike its predecessors Angel and Alien in so much as it was not only sweet, but savory and contained notes of “caviar” and fig that used a new molecular extraction technique.  The bottle is cylindrical with a molded metal abstract women’s face lending it a futuristic look. Womanity has a light woodiness which makes it a great T for everyday and especially a good perfume for early Fall.

8. Thierry Mugler Aura

Thierry Mugler Aura is the newest of the core perfumes in the collection, but is the prequel. Thierry Mugler once dreamed he would create a fragrance named Aura. He is the visionary behind Aura, and stated in 2016 that it was the genesis of all his other fragrances. The brilliantly faceted green flacon is the universal symbol common to all living things – the heart. The name starts with an “A” just as Mugler predecessors Angel, A*men, and Alien. Now the path diverges. It took four perfumers to create Aura which uses two unusual ingredients Tiger Liana© and Wolfs Wood©. Tiger Liana is found in traditional Chinese medicine which has both sweet and dusty-smoke facets, and Wolfs Wood provides a dry patchouli/cedar-woody vibe with a scintilla of something a bit sensual and a hint of oud.

When in 2005 Thierry Mugler launched Alien, its second pillar perfume, with the only listed notes of Jasmine, Amber and Woody Cashmeran© it then took 13 years for the men’s version to hit the shelves.
