DIY Lip Scrub for Plump Lips!

Sharing is caring!

You might not know this, but exfoliating your lips can make a big difference in the appearance of your lips! A DIY lip scrub is easy to make and incredibly effective at plumping and smoothing your lips so that lip products look smooth, even and luscious!

Most of us are in pursuit of BIG LIPS.  I mean, who doesn’t want to look like Angelina Jolie, right?  Most of us, myself included, are not in the market to get lip injections-plus it really goes against this whole diy skin care thing.

Luckily there are alternatives that are natural and easy to do  to get that bee stung look!  One in particular is exfoliating your lips on a regular basis.   Keep reading for a quick and easy tutorial on making your own plumping lip scrub!

Why Lip Scrubs Plump the Lips:

First off, let me explain why exfoliating plumps up lips.  By scrubbing your lips with sugar you are revving up blood flow.  Anywhere blood rushes to, the skin will swell.

Removing dead skin will smooth out your lips, giving your lips a plumped up look.  By using a moisturizing oil as the base for our scrub, we will also be nourishing the skin. When skin is well hydrated it will appear more smooth and plump.

Finally, by adding a bit of cinnamon, your lips will become irritated-our bodies natural reaction to irritation is to become inflamed.  That’s why lip plumpers burn.

I must mention this lip scrub tastes amazing! Definitely a sweet treat! I paired it with my DIY Bubble Gum Lip Oil!

  2. Rinse excess scrub off your lips.
  3. Wash your hands afterwards, cinnamon will burn if you rub your eyes.
  4. Follow up with an ultra hydrating lip balm like my basic peppermint lip balm recipe or my coQ10 lip treatment recipe.

DIY Lip Scrub

A DIY lip scrub can be used once or twice a week. Easy does it. The skin on the lips is delicate and shouldn’t be irritated.

A lip scrub is one of those products that is easily DIY’d and it’s unnecessary dropping a lot of money on a fancy store bought version. First, most store bought lip scrubs don’t contain natural ingredients and second-this is just such an easy product to make that is every bit as effective as one you purchase.

I hope you enjoyed this recipe! Lip scrub is so easy to make and often a forgotten beauty ritual that can make such a big difference with the way lips look and how they soak in lip hydrating products!
