What makes Houston Training Schools different from other cosmetology schools in Houston that accept financial aid?

When applying to cosmetology school, many students have concerns about cosmetology school expenses and applying for financial aid and other beauty school scholarships. These students ask us questions like, “How am I going to pay for cosmetology school?” or “How can I go to cosmetology school for free?” Sadly, nothing in life is truly free. But here at Houston Training Schools, we pride ourselves on making our cosmetology programs as accessible and affordable as possible. Here’s how.

1. We emphasize grants and scholarships over loans

Does financial aid pay for cosmetology school? Yes, financial aid is a great way for students who need help paying for cosmetology school tuition to make ends meet. Over the years, however, we’ve learned that many students focus on taking out loans when better, more affordable options like grants and scholarships are available.

Our financial aid system operates on grants and scholarships that do not need to be repaid. Cosmetology school grants and scholarships are financial gifts; the money is used to help cover your school’s tuition costs –– you don’t need to pay it back.

So, can you take out student loans for cosmetology school? Houston Training Schools does not participate in federal loan programs. This way, you can finish school debt and worry-free.

2. We offer flexible payment plans

One size does not fit all in either beauty practices or financial aid. That’s why we work with our students to find a flexible payment plan that suits a student’s budget and needs.

3. We don’t require a large down payment

It’s common practice for some of the cosmetology schools in Houston that accept financial aid to ask for an expensive down payment for enrollment. Unlike those schools, we don’t ask for a lot of money up-front from our students.

4. We offer flexible scheduling, including night classes

Houston Training Schools is one of the only cosmetology schools in Houston to offer night classes and we are always accepting new students.

5. We are, quite simply, less expensive

Other popular cosmetology schools in the area tend to be more expensive than our programs,  and often leave students with student loan debt. At Houston Training Schools, we are committed to our students graduating without debt from student loans. Part of that commitment means keeping our programs affordable while maintaining high standards for our students.

Additional funding can be given by the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) and other private scholarship organizations.

Can my financial aid be taken away?

Yes, your financial aid can be taken away if you do not meet certain standards.
