How to Prepare for a Beauty Education

When summer ends, schools everywhere start preparing for their students to come back. However, schools shouldn’t be the only ones preparing. Starting beauty school is an exciting first step to take, but how do you prepare yourself for it? Use these tips and tricks to help make your first day of beauty school a flawless one.

Not enrolled in beauty school yet? Here at Salon Success Academy, it is our goal to help students prepare for their future careers. For more information, call us at 1-877-987-4247 and someone from our admissions team will assist you!

Choose a Program

One of the first things you’ll want to do before starting beauty school is to choose which program you would like to study. Do you love all things hair and makeup? Or do you prefer skincare?

Here are some of our programs that you can choose from!

  • Cosmetology: If you love all things beauty, a cosmetology program may be perfect for you. This program will teach you the basics of haircutting, styling, makeup, and more!
  • Esthetics: Want to learn the science behind skincare and help others look and feel their best? In esthetics, you can learn facials, waxing, and eyelash extensions.
  • Nail Technology: Bring out your creative side with our nail tech program. In this program, you can learn hand massage techniques, manicures, and pedicures.

Choosing which program you want to study is probably the most important thing you can do to prepare yourself for beauty school. This decision shouldn’t be taken lightly, so take your time and consider your interests!

Schedule a Tour

After deciding which program you want to study, you’ll want to choose a school that can prepare you for your future in the beauty industry. The best way to get a feel for a school is by taking a tour. During the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the culture, meet students and teachers, and ask any questions you have related to beauty school and the programs you’re interested in.

The school tour is a fun yet crucial part of preparing for beauty school because choosing the right school will impact your future career. That’s why it is important to ask smart questions so that you can get all the information you need to make the best decision for you and your future.

Some of the questions we recommend asking are:

  • Is this school accredited?
  • How long will it take to complete my education?
  • How will you help me prepare for life after school?
  • How much is your tuition?

Here at Salon Success Academy, we love meeting new students. We’ll take the time to go over our programs and answer all of your questions. If you’re wanting to schedule a tour with us, fill out the form on our website or call us at 1-877-987-HAIR (4247).

Apply for Financial Aid

On average, an accredited beauty school tuition can cost between $5,000 to $15,000 depending on location and programs. Because beauty school is considered a trade school it typically costs less than a traditional university, but like universities, accredited beauty schools can provide financial aid to those who qualify.

For example, Salon Success Academy offers financial aid to those who qualify because we are dedicated to providing a high-quality education for an affordable price. To get started, you’ll have to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. If you’re applying for financial aid with us, you’ll want to use the following financial aid codes for our different locations:

  • Corona/Fontana/Redlands Campuses | 013095
    2097 Compton Ave Suite #201
    Corona, CA 992881
  • Upland/West Covina Campuses | 007203
    1385 E Foothill Blvd
    Upland, CA 91786
  • Riverside Campus | 014599
    210 W Highland Ave
    San Bernardino, CA 92405

Scholarships

Along with financial aid available through FAFSA®, there are also scholarship opportunities for beauty students. You might be surprised at how many scholarship options are available!

A great resource for beauty scholarships is the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS). The AACS partners with industry sponsors to provide deserving beauty school students with grants and scholarships.

Get Ready for Your First Day

After you’ve chosen your perfect school, picked a program, and figured out a financial solution, the last thing you need to do is to get ready for your first day of beauty school. Your first day is an exciting time so remember to get plenty of rest, pack your bag the night before, and bring your confidence!
