Leading beauty education company Milady is giving beauty pros tools to help end domestic violence with a 1-hour Domestic Violence Awareness course. Developed in partnership with Professional Beauty Association’s (PBA’s) Cut It Out program, the course raises domestic violence awareness by properly training beauty professionals in how to sense when a client is a victim of abuse, what to do if they see unusual injuries or bruising, and how to respond if a client confides in them about a dangerous situation at home.
Studies show that one in four women and one in seven men will experience Intimate Partner Violence, the act of physical abuse by their intimate partner, at some point during their lifetime. Milady feels that beauty professionals are uniquely positioned to sense a client’s physical safety and well‐being, and the Domestic Violence Awareness Course is one of three components toward receiving Milady RISE Certification in Client Well‐Being & Safety, a certification that highlights that a beauty professional goes above and beyond in their professional responbilities. It covers practical infection control while raising awareness in the areas of domestic violence and human trafficking. Thousands of professionals are already certified and ready to be an ally to their clients.
