Immortelle can be found in many Parfum d´Empire creations, but it wasn’t until 2019’s Parfum d’Empire Immortelle Corse that founder and perfumer Marc-Antoine Corticchiato created a fragrance that sets these highly scented yellow flowers into a golden crown.

Marc-Antoine Corticchiato quote – edited by Emmanuelle Varron (picture by L’Express Styles)

“Parfum d’Empire moves forward by going back to its Roots; to the glorious island Marc-Antoine Corticchiato’s hails from: Corsica. The collection L’Héritage Corse is a tribute to its natural beauty, to its energy. To the fragrances that define its scent-scape from the rugged seaside to the untamed maquis and proud mountains.”- a note from the brand.

Immortelle Corse is included in the “L’Héritage Corse” collection along with Acqua di Scandola, Corsica Furiosa, Eau de Gloire, Salute! and Mal-Aimé,  which are all dedicated to Corsica, the Island of Beauty. Immortelle is often used in perfumery, but it is Marc-Antoine Corticchiato’s deep connection to this flowering plant  that grows wild on the rocky cliffs that makes Immortelle Corse unique.

Parfum d´Empire Immortelle Corse is a radiant fragrance. Each ingredient- immortelle apricot, lemon and saffron evokes the colors of the sun. This solar hued opening possesses the skin… and never let’s go. The effect is stunning; the mélange of citrus, fruit and spice have unusual power. Saffron is particularly present, which gives Parfum d’Empire Immortelle Corse a very carnal, primordial and bewitching effect. The velvety aspect of apricot adds roundness to the composition and a hint of fruity delicacy, without being too sweet and  enhances the leathery, spicy and gleaming facets that makes Immortelle Corse so distinctive.

what is immortelle

The double dose of immortelle takes its time to develop just like the sun reaches its apex at noon I just need to close my eyes to imagine myself in the heart of the Corsican maquis, under a hot sun, my face swept by a rushing mistral from the South of France. At the base earthy  tones appear provided by the oak moss allowing the double dose of immortelle to unfold over the hours, like the flower blooming in the heart of the maquis. Parfum d’Empire fragrances all have incredible longevity as the raw materials chosen by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato are of the highest quality. Immortelle Corse is an Extrait (like Musk Tonkin and Tabac Tabou) which you  perceive immediately because of its richness. It is a fragrance of unspoiled nature (much of the island was designated as the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse(PNRC) in1972 ) with an intensity that seizes me from the first spray and heats on my skin.

I fell for Parfum d´Empire Immortelle Corse as soon as it was released, as I was immediately ensorcelled by the intensity of its sweet, leathery and spicy notes.  In summer, it echoes the sun, nature and gives my skin a fiery and intense scent, which everyone who brushes against me can’t help asking, “what fragrance ae you wearing.”  Embraced by its warmth in the  chill of winter, soaking up its glow when we have a rainy day in Paris, I  confess that I can’t resist putting my nose to my wrist in any weather and from sunup to sundown.

Notes: lemon, apricot, saffron, immortelle essence, immortelle absolute, oakmoss.
