ThisThatBeauty Reviews: Eighteen B Defend + Nourish Eye Cream

Being defensive is not generally viewed as an endearing quality. Right? Just think about that friend or family member who’s always oversensitive to the slightest critique.

But defending, or safe guarding is a good trait to posses, particularly when it comes to caring for your skin. The sooner you start protecting your skin against outside aggressors like pollution, UV rays, free radicals, blue light, etc., the happier your skin will be in the long run.

Healthy skin is happy skin!

I’ve been writing about beauty for over 15 years….and, in my experience, when it comes to skincare, the three most debated products are: toner, neck cream, and eye cream. I’m definitely Team Toner, and I have clinical literature to back that thang up. As for neck cream, I’m not going to die on a hill fighting that battle…have your opinions, I don’t care. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t…I just know I don’t want to reach the ripe, old age of 70 and be all “what-if” I had used a neck cream this whole time. But eye cream — let’s fight! You need eye cream!

Here’s what’s indisputable — The “periorbital” skin (fancy for: the skin around the eye) is significantly thinner than the skin on the rest of your face. This area also has less sebaceous glands, which means you’re producing less lipids and protective oils. So, what does this mean? Well, it’s a pretty solid argument that the skin around the eye area will show signs of aging faster than other areas of the face. For this reason, the eye area needs focused care.

Don’t delay. I really want to sound original but I can’t help my go all cliche and tell you that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.  A jar of eye cream now, or $800 a syringe of filler in a few years? My money is on the eye cream.

Eighteen B Defend + Nourish Eye Cream

Since late last year, I’ve been testing Eighteen B Defend + Nourish Eye Cream. My current eye areas concerns are: lack of moisture retention, expression lines that express after the expression is expressed, and general look of whew-chile-tiredness. I was attracted to Eighteen B Defend + Nourish Eye Cream because I’m already a fan of the brand’s patented b-silk™ protein because it’s clinically proven to help defend against external aggressors and oxidative stress.  I’m already a super fan of the Firm + Replenish Serum and Hydrate + Restore Rich Cream, so, honestly, giving the eye cream a whirl didn’t require any arm twisting.

Eighteen B Defend + Nourish Eye Cream

Eighteen B Defend + Nourish Eye Cream is an extremely nourishing treatment cream. Upon application, skin feels a rush of hydration, immediately more plump and bouncy to the touch. Truthfully, this part isn’t hard for most eye creams to pull off. So here’s where Defend + Nourish Eye Cream received high marks during my trial -Over time, I began to see softening of expression lines when my face was at rest. I do not have crow’s feet, yet, but when I smile, the lines express pretty deeply. Defend + Nourish Eye Cream helped to keep this area super nourished, so the look of the lines were less present.

B-silk™ protein forms a light-as-air protective barrier to help guard the delicate eye area. Simultaneously, the cream delivers a powerful combination of actives to restore and replenish. In turn, dark circles appear less prominent and the preorbital area appears stronger and healthier. But if your dark circles are still a concern, try this hack — on the back of your hand mix one part dense concealer with one part Defend + Nourish Eye Cream. The creamy DIY concoction will give your concealer more cushion and bounce…..providing more natural coverage, leaving skin looking more “breathable”.

B-silk™ protein: biocompatible, dual action structural protein that carries powerful
ingredients to the skin while forming a lightweight breathable barrier to lock these
ingredients in and protect from external aggressors. The benefit is healthier looking skin
that feel hydrated, firmer, and more elastic.
Jasmine Flower Extract: Helps improve circulation reducing the appearance of dark
Blend of Watermelon Rind Extract, Lentil Fruit Extract, Apple Extract: a highly
hydrating complex that also replenishes elements of the skin’s natural moisturizing
factor plus Vitamin b5 to nourish and eliminate dryness
Squalane: Natural lipid, potent skin conditioning agent, and anti-oxidant to help
maintain hydration

If you’re not treating your eye area, now is the time to start. If in your 20’s, you’ll appreciate the hydrating effects of Defend + Nourish Eye Cream…20’s is truly the right time to be proactive. For individuals in their 30’s, Defend + Nourish Eye Cream is proven to soften lines and diminish darkness. For 40’s and beyond, I see this as a good eye cream option for doing the “heavy lifting”…..Defend + Nourish Eye Cream not only hydrates and refines, it also corrects the appearance of more advanced aging that one might experience at 40+. I should also add, for my hardcore skincare devotees, Defend + Nourish Eye Cream is superb over an eye serum and undetectable under makeup. This do-it-all eye treatment offers a little something for everyone, regardless of where you are in your skincare journey!
