Tula So Polished Exfoliating Sugar Scrub Gently Melts Away Makeup — Editor Review

In recent years, I’ve switched from physical to chemical exfoliants. I don’t have the most sensitive skin, but I typically prefer to let a carefully concocted formula do its work to smooth my skin, rather than relying on the actual texture of a product — at least for the skin on my face. So when I was asked to test and review Tula’s So Polished Exfoliating Sugar Scrub for Best of Beauty this year, I was a bit wary, but soon learned that my worries were unfounded. In fact, it’s now part of my regular skin-care lineup.

When this delightful scrub comes out of the bright turquoise tube it has a thick white texture, and you can feel the small sugar granules as you smooth it onto your face. However, they quickly melt away, polishing the skin. In addition to getting rid of dead skin cells, the scrub takes off makeup and excess oil. When you rinse with warm water, the scrub leaves your skin feeling refreshed, not unnecessarily stripped.

Because the exfoliant included in the So Polished Scrub is sugar (rather than a larger particle that doesn’t disintegrate), I found that it was gentle enough to keep my skin happy while also producing the desired results of providing a clearer, softer, and brighter complexion.

Oh, and it also smells fantastic. Thanks to the inclusion of extracts from superfoods like papaya and pineapple, the scent is akin to a piña colada, and it takes me right to the beach (my happy place!). Something that also makes me happy? It’s a cruelty-free product, and while the brand says you can use it two to four times a week, I found I could use it up to four times because it doesn’t strip my skin of its natural sebum.

If you’ve been looking for a new scrub to add to your routine that gives more than it takes, this might just be the one you’ve been waiting for.
